A former Labour Party (LP) chieftain, Abayomi Arabambi, has called upon Peter Obi, the LP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, to apologise to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a recent statement, Arabambi criticised Obi’s comments on the number of delegates sponsored by the federal government to the COP28 Climate Change conference in Dubai, alleging that Obi fabricated figures that misrepresented the actual count of the Nigerian delegation.

He accused Obi of engaging in destructive criticism and deceptive politics by spreading fictitious and unfounded statistics on national issues.

He, therefore, demanded an unconditional apology from Obi to President Tinubu and Nigerians within 72 hours.

Arabambi warned of potential political consequences if Obi fails to comply.

His words:

”Basking on the euphoria of the 2023 Presidential Election defeat shock, Peter had come up recently with his style of deceptive politics of churning out fictitious and unfounded figures and indices on national issues where he lied that the federal government-sponsored Delegation to Dubai was 1,411 as against 422.

”Peter Obi’s destructive criticism of the Nigerian State on the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery came from one who is myopic about the topical issues in the world at large and Nigeria in particular.

”Peter Obi’s outburst of confusion regarding the Walk Free Organisation Global Slavery Index Reports of 2023 has further exposed his shallow intellectual capacity and campaign of calumny against the Nigerian State and further reveals his quest to wallow in character assassination of Mr President to gain undeserved sympathy.

”Nigerians are always enjoined to go through research to get first-hand information themselves, rather than rely their views on falsehood peddled by Peter Obi to discredit Nigeria.

”The lies in figures, data, indices and parameters quoted by Peter Obi are the handiwork of a frustrated, self-acclaimed opposition leader, bereft of the spirit of patriotism and goodwill to the nation.”
