Peter Obi, others discuss ‘The Trouble With Nigeria’ in USA; Celebrate Chinua Achebe – Global Patriot Newspapers

All roads lead to Princeton University, New Jersey, United States of America (USA) this weekend as the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate in the February 25, 2023 election in Nigeria, Mr. Peter Obi, leads other distinguished personalities to discuss “The Trouble With Nigeria.”

The program, holding tomorrow, Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30, 2023, is “The Chinua Achebe International Symposium and 10th Anniversary Memorial Celebration” which is being hosted by the Africa World Initiative and Program in African Studies in partnership with the Christie and Chinua Achebe Foundation.

The Trouble With Nigeria is a book by Professor Chinua Achebe, a trail-blazing and renowned novelist, poet, short story writer and essayist who passed on 10 years ago in the US. Professor Achebe is the author of world acclaimed novels like Things Fall Apart, Arrow of God, A Man of the People and Anthills of the Savannah.

While the Symposium on The Trouble With Nigeria will hold tomorrow, Friday, from 9:00AM to 6.30PM (EST), the Memorial Celebration will take place on Saturday from 3:00PM to 6.30PM EST. 

To ensure that people, wherever they are in the world, are able to participate in the intellectual and cultural feasts, the program is also being livestreamed via: mediacentrallive.princeton.edu. 

Besides Mr. Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, who is the Keynote Speaker, other high profile international personalities featuring in the program are HRM Igwe Alex Onyido, Abena Busia, Toyin Falola, Richard Joseph, Sonia Sanchez, Obiora Udechukwu, Patrice Nganang, Chika Unigwe, Simon Gikandi and Oseloka Obaze.

An array of other celebrated participants, confirmed to attend the two-day event, include Portia Owusu, Jeanne-Marie Jackson, Kwabena Opoku-Agyemano, Sarah Duff, Chielozona Eze, Juliana Makuchi Nfah-Abbenyi, Ranka Primorac, Meg Arenberg, Terri Ochiagha, Simukai Chigudu, Ainehi Edoro, Mukoma Wa Ngugi, Maik Nwosu, Hannah Essien, Chris Abani, Obi Nwakanma, Anthonia Kalu, Wale Lawal and Adeleke Adeeko .

Also to feature in the historic program are Tanyaradzwa Tawengwa, Dorobucci African Dance Company, Udoji Achebe and Eme & Heturu Band. Indeed, the event promises, not only to be historic, but to be memorable.
