The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has shown happiness over the exploits of young Nigerians in Brampton, Canada.

Obi in a recent post on his X handle said the exploits are testaments to the urgent need to harness the potentials of young Nigerians for the development of Nigeria.

Obi wrote: “Brampton is a melting pot of diversity, boasting over 250 cultures and approximately 170 languages spoken among its residents. Impressively, 60% of its populace comprises youth, with a significant portion holding university graduate qualifications, reflecting a highly educated and dynamic community.

“The city’s expansion is fueled by key pillars of productivity, including innovation, creativity, manufacturing, and education, which serve as catalysts for its ongoing development.

”Of particular note is Brampton’s inclusive approach to its diaspora community, a testament to its commitment to embracing diversity and leveraging the strengths of its residents. I had met with Mayor Patrick Brown, during my 2023 campaigns, reaffirming my interest in studying the city’s exemplary growth trajectory.

“It was heartening to learn that Nigerians play a significant role in Brampton’s success, with some employed in various capacities within the city administration and contributing positively to its vibrancy.

” Vincent Rodo, the Director of Organizational Performance, highlighted the exceptional work ethic and can-do attitude of young Nigerians, emphasizing the transformative potential of effective leadership in harnessing the aspirations of our youth. Brampton, like many cities globally, thrives on the energy and harnessing of human potential for sustainable growth and development.

”The lessons gleaned from Brampton’s experience in productivity and leadership commitment serve as invaluable insights for our nation.

”It underscores the imperative for prioritizing investments in human capital development and channelling resources towards fostering an environment conducive to growth and progress.

”As leaders, it is incumbent upon us to prioritize the collective welfare of our nation above personal and sectional interests. Let us redouble our efforts towards steering Nigeria towards its full potential, guided by the principles of inclusivity, innovation, and commitment to national development. Together, we can realize the promise of a New Nigeria “
