For his commendable achievement, a Nigerian artist, Chancellor Ahaghotu, has earned the praise of Mr. Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP). Ahaghotu, an art student, recently achieved a painting marathon lasting 100 hours, breaking the previous decade-long Guinness World Record  in painting.

Peter Obi expressed his admiration for Chancellor Ahaghotu’s accomplishment, describing it as a gratifying story emerging from a nation grappling with leadership challenges. Obi congratulated the young and talented student, emphasizing that the achievement reflects his hard work, resilience, and dedication to the art.

The former governor of Anambra State highlighted that Ahaghotu’s remarkable feat reinforces the belief in the possibility of a New Nigeria. Obi encouraged not only the artist but also other Nigerian youth to persist in their pursuit of self-development through hard work, emphasizing that it equips them with the necessary skills for success.

“This is yet another gratifying story coming out of a troubled nation marred by successive leadership failure, and poor direction for her numerous young talents,” Obi said. “I congratulate the young talented student for this achievement which is an obvious attestation of his hard work, resilience, and commitment to his art.

“I encourage him, and other Nigerian youths to continue to walk the path of hard work and self-development which will equip them with the necessary skills to attain greater heights in life,” Obi stated.

Guinness World Record officially recognized Chancellor Ahaghotu’s achievement, announcing that he surpassed the previous record of 60 hours set in 2013 by Roland Palmaerts from Belgium/Canada. Chancellor, currently a sophomore at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, expressed his aspirations to build a recognized career as an artist in the United States.

Before embarking on the record attempt, Chancellor stated, “Breaking the record will boost my recognition as an artist both in my school and the world at large.” Over four days of continuous effort, he created 106 pieces featuring a diverse range of subjects, including celebrities, food items, plants, animals, and more. The accomplishment not only sets a new record but also contributes to the global recognition of Nigerian talent in the art world.
