The Call for Change in Kogi State

As the upcoming governorship election draws closer, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the previous election, has issued a clarion call to the residents of Kogi State. He urges the populace to cast their votes in favor of the Labour Party and its candidate, Adejoh Okeme, in the November 11, 2023 elections. This appeal was made during the official presentation of Okeme as the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

Obi, keen on the potential of Kogi state, emphasized that a region rich in resources such as the giant steel company, the River Niger and Benue, and abundant mineral resources, should not be marred by poverty. In his address, he warned the electorate against falling for false promises from politicians who abandon them after securing their votes.

A Glimpse of Past Achievements and Future Promises

Drawing from his successful stint as the former Governor of Anambra State, Obi stressed that a similar positive transformation can occur in Kogi State. To achieve this, he implored voters to lend their support to the Labour Party candidate.

Other party leaders also echoed Obi’s sentiments. The National Woman Leader of the party, Dudu Manuga, urged the electorate to utilize their Permanent Voters Cards to instigate a positive change leading to their emancipation and overall developmental progress.

Seeking a Leadership Change

Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the party, highlighted the upcoming governorship election as an opportunity for the people to rectify past and present leadership errors. He expressed his belief in the Labour Party as the best alternative to the ruling APC and other political parties.

The Labour Party candidate, Adejoh Okeme, implored Kogi State’s residents to take charge of their destiny by voting for a party that prioritizes human needs. He assured that the Labour Party has transformative policies and plans for the state and called for their support. Okeme is keen on tapping into the state’s overlooked resources to improve the lives of its residents.

Conclusion

As Kogi State braces for the upcoming governorship elections, the Labour Party, under the leadership of Peter Obi and Adejoh Okeme, is making a strong case for change. By drawing on past achievements and promising future progress, they are urging residents to consider an alternative path for the state. Their campaign emphasizes the potential of Kogi State and the importance of political leadership that prioritizes the welfare and development of its people.
