In a recent X-space event, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election, addressed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continuous foreign trips.

Obi emphasized the importance of attracting foreign investors to Nigeria rather than pursuing them, stating, “Nobody goes around searching for foreign investors. Foreign investors are like bees; when you keep the honey, they will boom towards there. We need to attract foreign investors and not chase after them.”

President Tinubu, in an interview with Nation Newspaper after receiving the Man-of-the-Year award, highlighted Nigeria’s engagement with the global market, both with foreign and domestic investors.

He stressed the substantial and long-term financial commitments involved in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and the country’s efforts to rebuild confidence and communicate its openness for business.

Tinubu noted the success of Nigeria’s initiatives to attract foreign direct investors, citing specific deals with Germany and France for renewable energy projects and start-ups.

He also mentioned his participation in various international events to advance the cause of FDI in Nigeria, including COP28 in Dubai, the G20 Summit in India, the UN General Assembly, and the G20 compact with Africa Conference.
