Mr. Peter Obi, Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate in the 2023 general election in Nigeria, has hailed the accomplishments of two trailblazing Nigerians, Princess Oluchukwu Owowoh and Ms. Eni Aluko.

The two ladies have distinguished themselves, becoming firsts in their different fields of endeavor far away from Nigeria.

Princess Owowoh blazed the trail in the military, by becoming the first Nigerian Female Officer Cadet to graduate from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the British Army’s premier Officer Training Centre, while Ms. Aluko has become the First Black Female Football Club Owner in Italy.

In a post on his X (former Twitter) handle, Mr. Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State said: “I am delighted to celebrate two outstanding Nigerian-born female personalities who through hard work and unwavering commitment to excellence have distinguished themselves in their respective fields of endeavour.

“First is Princess Oluchukwu Owowoh who has just become the first Nigerian Female Officer Cadet to graduate from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, which is the British Army’s premier Officer Training Centre.

“Second is Eni Aluko who has become the First Black Female Football Club Owner in Italy. Eni Aluko, a former sports director for Aston Villa and Angel City, is reported to have now become the first black female football club owner in Italy.

“She is part of a $100 million ownership group, known as Mercury 13, that has acquired a majority stake in FC Como Women, a club based in northern Italy, thus conferring on her an ownership status.

“In my usual tradition of celebrating exceptional Nigerians who are blazing the trail in different professions, I wish to celebrate and congratulate these two Nigerian women who, by their achievements and great heights already attained, have made our nation proud and serve to inspire our generation of women, that one can achieve greater heights irrespective of gender, religion or tribe. Their success stories are also clear reminders that with visionary leadership, our very talented youths will be able to thrive and achieve their full potential. In the New Nigeria, we will build a safe, secure and productive nation where our youths will grow, excel on the global stage and contribute to national development. -PO.”
