Former presidential candidate Peter Obi and Abia State Governor Alex Otti had an inspiring rendezvous with gymnastics prodigy Stephanie Onusiriuka over the weekend in Abuja, as revealed by Mr. Obi in a recent Instagram post.

The meeting served as a testament to Onusiriuka’s remarkable journey, which began to capture national attention in August 2022 when, at just 11 years old, she clinched a gold medal at the African Junior Gymnastics Championship in South Africa.

Reflecting on their encounter, Obi shared, “Yesterday in Abuja, I and my dear brother, Gov Alex Otti @alexottiofr, met the wonder girl of gymnastics, who is making Nigeria proud on the global stage.”

He reminisced about Onusiriuka’s groundbreaking achievement and expressed his delight in witnessing her continued ascent in the world of gymnastics. “I rejoiced with her and encouraged her to remain committed to deepening her skills,” Obi added.

Governor Otti also extended his support to the young athlete, offering assistance for her future endeavors. Both leaders emphasized the importance of nurturing and empowering young talents like Onusiriuka to excel on the international stage.

Obi had previously celebrated Onusiriuka’s success in 2022, hailing her achievement as she etched her name in gold. He expressed hopes for her continued growth and urged her to inspire others with her remarkable journey.

Stephanie Onusiriuka’s journey in gymnastics began at the tender age of two, and she has since dedicated herself to the sport. Her professional training commenced in October 2018 under the guidance of TIG Gymnastics at the National Stadium, Abuja, marking the beginning of her extraordinary trajectory in the world of gymnastics.
