Osun state goes to the polls later this year to pick a new governor. Party politics and conflicts mean all eyes will be on the state and the battle for supremacy between the two dominant parties there – the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party. But there’s a crisis brewing in the PDP, which is embroiled in a battle for leadership as it prepares to choose its governorship candidate. Former flagbearer Senator Ademola Adeleke is in the firing line, with serious accusations of forgery leveled against him by members of his own party. But his supporters say it’s all just a political witch-hunt. So, could these divisions and conflicts derail the party’s momentum as it fights for control of the state? Sumner Sambo speaks to a member of Senator Adeleke’s legal team.
