Olashore School Wins 2023 Drone Soccer Contest

Olashore International School (OIS), Iloko-Ijesha, Osun State has won the 2023 drone soccer competition, aimed at rekindling students’ interest in STEM subjects, and foster critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity skills.

The competition was organised by the Global Air Drone Academy (GADA), a non-profit organisation with headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

The African Drone Soccer Competition (ADSC) aims to provide students with a dynamic platform to delve into the realms of robotics, drone technology, and soccer, encouraging a passion for STEM fields and fostering essential life skills by infusing the thrill of soccer with the complexities of drone operation. 

The competition, held at Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos attracted guests including the Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr. Tubosun Alake, and the U.S. Consul General, Mr. Will Stevens. 

The OIS Board Chairman, Prince Abimbola Olashore described the achievements of his students as a noteworthy milestone in the school’s journey towards excellence and also an affirmation of its efforts in promoting international awareness and understanding.

In his remarks, Stevens commended  Olashore students for their remarkable performance, while highlighting their exceptional skills in drone technology and soccer. 

The Olashore team which included David Saleh, Gbolade Adedinsewo, Chiamaka Odor, Emmanuella Akhabue, Oritsemisan Aroeye, Ebimobiere Smooth, Olaoluwa Ajayi, and Ethan Obuzor were cheered by supportive parents and other members of the school.

Olashore International School (OIS), a private co-educational boarding secondary school in Iloko-Ijesha, Osun State, has won the 2023 Drone Soccer Competition held in Lagos.

Organised by the Global Air Drone Academy (GADA), a non-profit organisation headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, with an operational office in Lagos, the competition seeks to ignite interest in Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics(STEM) subjects among participants, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity skills.

The African Drone Soccer Competition (ADSC) aims to provide students with a platform to delve into robotics, drone technology and soccer, encouraging a passion for STEM and fostering essential life skills through soccer with the complexities of drone operation.
