Political situation in Rivers state where a group of three lawmakers loyal to Governor Fubara on Wednesday declared Oko Jumbo representing Bonny Constituency as new speaker of the state house assembly.
Oko Jumbo, who was one of the lawmakers loyal to Governor Fubara in the wake of the political crisis was said to elected during Wednesday’s plenary in line with the Standing Order of the House.
The 3 lawmakers are those who remained as members of the People Democratic Party after 27 of their colleagues defected to the All Progressives Congress.
This is the second time a factional speaker would emerge from the Pro-Fubara group after Edison Ehie.
Mr. Ehie later resigned his membership of the house and was appointed as Chief of Staff to the Governor.
