Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 election, Peter Obi, has expressed sorrow over the tragic thunder storm that killed three students of Tansi International College, Awka, Anambra State during the weekend.
The thunder which reportedly occured during a rainstorm on Saturday, struck nine students of the college, killing three leaving the rest with injuries.
It was gathered that the students had a football practice with their coach in preparation for an upcoming competition but it ended before the rain started. They were said to have continued playing while it was raining and the thunder unfortunately struck.

While six of them were resuscitated, three died in the process.
In a statement on Sunday, via his official X account, Obi said: “I am greatly saddened by the unfortunate natural disaster that happened at Tansi International College, Awka this weekend. It was reported that nine students of the College were struck by thunder, on Saturday, November 4, during a rainstorm.
“Sadly, three of the students lost their lives, while the rest are responding to treatment at the hospital.
“I commiserate with the bereaved families, students, and management of the College.
“May God give all the strength to bear this great loss, and grant eternal rest to the dead, and quick recovery to the injured.”
