Nigerians on social media have taunted a prominent supporter of Peter Obi who swiftly protected his Twitter page after accepting an appointment from President Bola Tinubu.

The appointment of Marcus-Obiene Fernández to the role of Special Assistant on Justice Sector Reforms And ICT/Digital and Innovative Technology by the Tinubu administration had sparked reactions last week.
Fernandez Marcus-Obiene is a lawyer in technology and a partner at Tsedaqah Attorneys.
Many Obi supporters expressed disappointment as Marcus-Obiene Fernández was considered one of the most vocal advocates for the Labour Party presidential candidate during the election campaigns.
Shortly after the news broke, Nigerians observed that Marcus-Obiene Fernández had changed his previously public Twitter account to protected mode. This means only approved followers can view his tweets.
Marcus-Obiene Fernández ‘s move to limit access to his past political tweets and comments was met with ridicule and accusations of attempting to cover up his previous attacks on Tinubu.
Some Nigerians mocked the digital strategist, saying he had betrayed his allegiance to Obi by accepting an appointment from Tinubu despite heavily criticizing the APC leader in the past.
Many saw his sudden privatization of his account as an effort to hide contradictions and avoid backlash over his new role in the Tinubu government.
Marcus-Obiene Fernández was a prime example of Obi supporters who vehemently rejected Tinubu’s candidacy before the elections but have now adjusted their stance after his victory was affirmed by the Supreme Court.
