The important decision to postpone the upcoming general elections in the Sargodha constituencies of NA-83 and NA-85 for the National Assembly was made by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
This action is in response to candidate Sadiq Ali’s untimely death. The elections in these constituencies have been postponed, as announced by the ECP in a formal notification issued by Returning Officer Shoaib Ahmed Niswana.
The announcement made clear that an updated election schedule would be released when it was ready.
This development affects the overall framework of the nationwide general elections that are set for February 8 and comprise contests for the national and provincial assemblies as well as three National Assembly seats in Islamabad.
