Military Must Allow Independent or State Investigators Access to Okuama – Ogbodo | Kemapado

While we commiserate with the military, the military cannot be a law unto itself, other security agencies who are detached from this case must be allowed to investigate and look at all angles of evidence available

  1. The military are only angry not because there members died but angry because the community dealt with them mercilessly, Nigerian military are so used to intimidating the citizens and I'm glad they got what they deserved sorry for the lost souls but sometimes karma fights back , what happened in Niger delta is a message to the army that they dont have monopoly of violence ..

  2. So the issue of the kidnapped 287 school children and teachers, and another 87 people on kaduna state seems forgotten as nothing serious is being heard of them like the Niger Delta crisis😢

  3. Yoruba always killing South South because of their oil, if you check that community have crude oil and they said no you cant take our crude oil anymore, you attack them and they attack you back and because they have juju, 16 army lost their life and now one mumu Yoruba drug dealer when go die next week come send matching to go wipe off the whole village like same away when one Yoruba man call Obasanjo did in Odi village in 1999, why e be say na only Yoruba people they kill the delta people for oil?

  6. Thank you, Chief Ogbodo. You are the only one who has made sense of this issue from day one of this tragedy. The problem we have in Nigeria is we don't find the root of the problem, all we do is jump in solution rather than finding the root and the cause of the issue, how does it sound that is just land conflict that make the village to kill 17 soldiers ah my people this story is not clear, and I know people that know the truth are still hiding because Nigeria is in a big mess, and saying the truth can even put you into problem as long as Nigeria is concern the country have turn to be that only people with upper hand and connections survive.

  7. If soldiers can revenge the death of their colleagues in the north, in this way, terrorism would have ended in Nigeria . The worst is that no one is talking about the innocent villagers being killed unprovoked, this is injustice.

  8. If soldiers can revenge the death of their colleagues in the north, in this way, terrorism would have ended in Nigeria . The worst is that no one is talking about the innocent villagers being killed unprovoked, this is injustice.

  9. Could it be that the military 🪖 which we think is the victim here is having something to hide…. Could it be that the military is not entirely innocent of the dynamics which lead to the disagreement between the two communities…. Maybe there's more to this story…. Certainly there's more…. The unsaid part of most stories is more than what is made known to the public…. We're still in the dark 🌑

  10. Nigeria is simply a joke and their leaders and journalists, Boko Boys has been killing Nigerian military in thousands heaven has never fall because is in the North now it has happened to military who went to an illegal mission to South everyone is talking.

  11. The govt keep flying their narratives, what could have made such high ranking army officers in village other than oil and gas theft and routes to escorts oil thefts outside the border. Nigeria soldiers, police, DSS, all other forces yet Tompolo a known terrorist like Shekeau guiding Nigeria oil and gas pipelines?

  12. The bitter truth is that they're there for oil 🛢️ theft and suppression of the people of that land, if not check the list of the whole deceased soldiers and tell yourself where they came from? The same thing they're busy doing in Anambra state since almost 6 years now drilling our oil 🪔 by force with soldiers in Ogbaru Lga of Anambra state, last year the same soldiers killed many youths who protested against the oil theft with impunity and the they brought Military 🪖 and mobile police men and search about five communities within the Oil zone and killed many youths because of crude oil 🛢️, and tomorrow if the youths decided to revenge All national TV and media will start shouting and calling them Ipob or militants, whereby they're the terrorist sponsors by the hopelessss federal Govt..in Ogbaru town is painful, so the soldiers knows what causes the killing

  13. Nigeria is the only country in the planet where government and its agencies carry out the act of war against its citizens. How can military cordone such huge communities without access to medical facilities. What about children, old men and women, pregnant and sick people? Are we in a country? Even in Gaza the press was allowed, so what is the problem with Nigeria.
Secondly, who commissioned the military operation thst led to all this. A nation of impunity and lawlessness, so sad

  14. These two men are not ashamed and pretend criminals have not been breaded in his community and other communities who are now being celebrated. Amnesty that is breading more criminals to encourage other criminals. Shame to our society.

  15. The military accuse the community, the military take hold of the evidence, the military investigating the crime unopposed. The military retaliating.

Police Commisioners unable to access the communities, Journalists forbidden to to access the communities. Because the military now own the community.

Tinubu ask that investigation be carried out, the military not still not allowing access. 😂😂😂

    Nigeria 🇳🇬 🇳🇬 🇳🇬

  16. How about millions of Nigerians who are not given job by government and are still not criminals this guy is call none state actors. Whether we like it or not most people like these people are the kind of people operating from behind the scenes and later come out to make noise in media. Government should stop amnesty. Anyone who commit crime must be punished according to the law. There should be no more amnesty to these criminals. All those criminals who have been given chieftaincy must be stripped not to encourage more criminals. These criminals are being protected by the same people who have been given titles.

  17. How can the besieged community now give information to the military when you have destroy their properties..it doesn't work that way, knowing that Niger Delta people are very stubborn and bold, they should have go with carrots and friendliness.not the OBJ type of sticks and carrots approach..the nation is too fragile now common sense is it, if you read the lips of the guests,is like they saying don't give occasion to what I will call .okay nau..

  18. Why is the Nigerian army only concentrating only in Southern states. The vigor the Nigerian army is using, they should do the same thing in some Northern states. Could the Nigerian army be protecting Fulani terrorists, kidnappers, and murderers? Because l don't see the Nigerian army, vigorously going after anyone in the North. It's so glaring that the Nigerian army and some politicians and imams are protecting Fulani terrorists.

  19. So, it's a military regime in Nigeria or a civilian democratic administration? This becomes clear that Tinubu is a weak leader. The Nigerian army and Northern politicians are truly in charge. Tinubu is looking like a puppet of the North. In the UK, it's called a lapdog.

  20. Nigeria military especially the army they are the real terrorist.
Those guys operation is most than terrorist.
This is not how military in other countries operate.
The kind power those guys think the have is so annoying. The stop a whole state governor from accessing the place. They should know we are no more in military errar.
Even as we commemorate with their lost,I think they should used their brain.

  21. Niger delta if una like make una be wise.
U people should wake up and fight those boko Haram coming in form of military or u will become a slave in ur own land very soon.
This one side of the story that only military are giving is not clear.
I have never believe this Fulani army called Nigeria army and I will never believe them.

  22. First of all; greetings to my good friend, Abraham Ogbodo, who I have never met, but whose literary work and style, I both admire and love to read.
That said, It is my take that, in as much as it is quite an anomaly, for any citizen of Okuana or of any community, to murder her soldiers or any branch of the Law Enforcement, this very much crucial and ever so very much amplified issue of investigation, is quite belated. You don’t put the cart ahead of the horse. Investigations should have been conducted, not necessarily by the Army, but by the appropriate sector of our Law Enforcement, which is the Police, before irascibly, if ever, resorting to the massacring and burning down of whole villages, which has become a highly critical and selective norm of the military, which depends on the locality of the occurrence. Is it now, after causing the irreparable damage of desecrating the land of Okuama, by wasting innocent blood and, destroying the properties of innocent people, that they have decided to conduct an investigation, which is, actually, usurping the duties of the Police? Given the premise that the Military has self-proven to be an equal villain, in breaking the Law, by virtue of their irascibility as they have thus exhibited, in their barbaric carnage. They should have no hand in the investigation, which should be three-pronged – why did they and not the Police, get involved in the communal despite? What, actually, led to the said Army killing? Lastly, why did they have to take laws into their own hands, by sacking, not only the village of Okuama, but other villages of the neighboring States? It is my conviction that the Military acted as irresponsibly as those, supposed criminals that, thoughtlessly, did the awful killing of their own soldiers. I, for one among many, is for tracking down the murderous criminals, in order to avenge the deaths of the Soldiers and, at the same time, stand for fishing out all the Soldiers, who participated in sacking the fateful, innocent and defenseless Village and Villagers of Okuama, including, of course, whoever it was that authorized the fruitless reprisal, which may incriminate and, rightly so, the Commander-In-Chief of the Arm Forces of Nigeria, in the Person of Amed Tinubu – the Jagaban. On the issue of why should the Army resort to such heavy-handed measures, only when it concerns the South, the example of Zaki Biam, in the Middlebeld, should never have been cited as an extenuation of such heinous acts, by the Military. In the first place, the case of Zaki Biam, can never be equated with those of Okuama and Odi. The case of Okuama is still fresh on our mind and, so will be, for a long time and, in that of Odi, the whole town was raised and a whole 2,843 innocent people, which was over half the population of 5,000 of the village, were killed. What a shame! On the other hand, only 30 yam-sellers were killed, in Zaki Biam, which is infinitesimal, compared to those of Okuoma and, definitely, Odi – their atrocious activities, in the Southeast, being not in the equation. Then again, Zaki Biam is, actually, not in the “North, but in the Middlebelt and, should not, necessarily, by counted as being n the North. After all the Mid West is no more counted as being, in the West, due to its autonomy . Again and again, do the lives of the Middlebeltans matter? If so, why the unattended mascares, in that Zone? Now, this attitude of annihilating a whole Village, just for the vile actions of just a few misguided youths, being the right thing to do, the big question now is, how come such measures are not applied in the Core North, where real and daily threats abound; both to the whole populace and to the Military? It is alleged that even the villagers are, most of the time, complicit, but there has never been any repercussion, either on record or in the air, ever meted to them, where as, in these other arrears, innocent citizenry are punished, without questions being asked. On the whole, the Military should vacate the peaceful towns and villages of the Southeast and South South and, annex and occupy the Sambisa, where actual threats abound and, allow the Police, who are, equally, both partial and, openly, one-sided, to perform their duties of Conflict Resolution.
    Thank you.

  23. When the two elephants fights the grasses suffer. May the innocent souls RIP. Great country with yeye leaders using army as tools of oppression. Thanks Mr. Ogbodo for the facts.
