The Labour Party leadership raised concerns on Tuesday, stating, “We have yet to receive the Certified True Copy of the Supreme Court judgment that affirmed President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 poll.”

They described the situation as embarrassing and depressing, asserting that the apex court did not deliver a judgment on Peter Obi’s case against Tinubu.

The apex court ended the 171-day legal tussle on October 26, rejecting election appeals by Obi and Atiku Abubakar. LP’s National Secretary, Umar Farouk, lamented, “The requests for the judgment have been ignored,” adding that the Supreme Court’s position is “extraordinary, terribly shocking, most unprecedented and unacceptable.”

Farouk emphasized, “This constitutes an unmitigated breach of the constitutional right of LP and her candidate to a fair hearing.”

He also expressed regret that the court failed to consider various grounds for appeal, including issues related to election irregularities.

In a separate incident, Lucky Okey, a police inspector from the Anambra State Governor’s security convoy, passed away due to brain damage from an accident on August 6, 2022.

His elder brother, Chukwudi Okey, denied claims of neglect by Governor Soludo, stating, “The governor did all he could to save his life.”

The Anambra State Government extended condolences, refuting claims of neglect and emphasizing the support provided to Inspector Okey until his demise. The government urged against exploiting the tragic event for political gain.
