The realities on the ground are such that our legal environment is weak. Hence, if you want to engage your enemies, you use the same approach they are using: fire for fire. This is the only way to survive in the jungle.
Until we decide as a people and society to allow the rule of law to be the only basis upon which we act, we will continue to act this way. This is the only way you can survive. Sad as it is. It is the reality of our existence at the very moment. Hope things change for good.
