The State Chairmen of the Labour Party have debunked speculations that they were plotting to suspend the party leader and Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

During a visit to the LP National Chairman, the Council of State Chairmen spokesman, Ceekay Igara denied the allegations, stating the party remains fully behind Obi’s leadership.

Igara dismissed the claims as propaganda meant to derail the party’s momentum, especially in Edo state which is seen as a stronghold of the Obidient Movement.

He also reiterated Obi and the party leadership’s confidence in Abure’s transparent governance. Igara also presented audit reports accounting for recent party donations, denying allegations from the suspended Treasurer, Oluchi Oparah of missing funds.

The Council further distanced itself from those posing as LP state officials, labeling them as touts working for dissidents.

They passed a vote of confidence in Abure’s executive team for their sacrifices in leading the party. Igara expressed hope the independent audit would exonerate Abure and expose the Treasurer’s lies.

“We are here to reinforce our confidence on the Barrister Abure’s leadership of the Labour Party and his ability to provide good and transparent leadership.

“We are here also to use the opportunity to respond to some of the spurious and unfounded allegations that are being made generally on the leadership of the party especially the one that has to do with mismanagement of funds of the party and lack of transparency in the management of the affairs of the party.
