The Film Village in Asaba was like a graveyard yesterday following the death of Pope Obumneme Odonwodo aka Junior Pope. Pope died alongside three crew members after their boat capsized in the River Niger Cable Point Asaba on Wednesday.
A film producer, who simply identified himself as Mekus said said the development had crippled every form of shooting within the town. He said: “As you can see, here is empty of activities. Since the occurrence on Wednesday in the Anam area of Anambra, weaknesses have invaded our bones with low morale to carry on.
“We cannot count the numbers of popular actors that lost their lives to one sickness or another.” A survivor of the accident, a Nollywood actor and director, Tochukwu Okafor, popularly called TC Virus, lamented Pope’s passing.
