General Jones Arogbofa (rtd), who served as Chief of Staff to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has died.

The cause of the death of the 72-year-old retired military general remains unknown as of the time of filing this report

Confirming the death of the former chief of staff, media mogul, and former lawmaker, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce disclosed this via his X handle.

“I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Brigadier General Jones Oladeinde Arogbofa (Rtd), the former Chief of Staff, to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“He was a dear friend. His wisdom, integrity, and dedication to Nigeria will forever be remembered. A true hero has left us, but his legacy endures. Rest in peace, dear friend.” Murray-Bruce posted.

Born on November 10, 1952 in Oka-Akoko, Ondo State, Arogbofa served in the military, where he rose to the rank of Brigadier General

Educated at institutions like Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Ibadan, Arogbofa retired from the army before going into politics.

He was later appointed Chief of Staff to the President at the twilight of the Jonathan administration in 2014
