The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has said the time has come for him to participate fully in national politics to better the socio-political sphere of the Igbos.

Ubah stated this through his media aide, Kamen Chuks Ogbonna, who spoke to journalists in Awka on Sunday.

According to Ogbonna, Ndi Anambra, we have arrived at the melting point, the point where we either make the decision to swim or sink.

“The supreme court judgement has come and gone and left us in political wilderness.

“Fortunately for us, we have an idea bearer, who was smart enough to read the handwriting on the wall, and made the decision to take the bull by the horns, sacrifice his own personal comfort zone by making the critical decision to leave his own progressive party (YPP), that he has laboured to build in the last few years with such success story to join the larger progressive ruling party(APC), in order to bring his people to the negotiating table at the Centre.

“Senator Ifeanyi Ubah CON is a household name that has made such an indelible mark (as a human capital and capacity developer) on the minds of the people that he needs no introduction wherever he goes.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort but where he stands at times of challenge, strife and controversy.

“Our dear state Anambra and the entire Igbo race is currently faced with huge challenges of insecurity, under-development, and what can be termed political isolation when it comes to allocation of federal resources, appointments and even attraction of grants, loans and counterpart fundings from international bodies since such moves mandatorily need approvals from the federal government.

“In Anambra, we have an APGA government that is viewed as being pro-PDP’s Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, whom the majority of our people unapologetically voted for during the polls.

“The stark reality facing us as a state today is that the time has finally come to play smart politics or get left behind to continue attacking helpless women maggi sellers in the market in search of taxes to put in the coffers of the State government.

“The time has indeed come for us to Retrace, Reconnect, and Re-align to the centre and, by so doing, become active participants in the renewed hope agenda of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu presidency in order to place our dear state Anambra once again on the map of real infrastructural and commerce-driven development in a secured environment where security of lives and properties is paramount.

“The time has indeed come to lift our dear state Anambra above its current level of operation where we hail inferior road constructions carried out by little-known Okeke and Sons construction companies as a big deal to a level where giant construction companies like Julius Berger and Co will come in with critical road networks and flyovers built to last generations.

“The time has come when state Governors in Anambra will have no other choice than to remove coveting eyes and sticky fingers from allocations due to local governments by conducting local government elections and empowering the people at the grassroots to elect their best hands that will use the local government allocation judiciously to develop the communities while the state Government focuses on driving developmental indices in the state.”

“But then this takes a governor that is streetwise, idea-laden and has the requisite contacts and influence to get things done and not necessarily boardroom or classroom rhetoricians

“We all are in agreement as a people that it is time for our dear state Anambra to rise above its current slumber and take back its pride of place as the leading Igbo state in Nigeria,” Ogbonna added.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Friday last week, affirmed Senator Ubah as the winner of the 2023 Anambra South Senatorial District Election.

The court delivered judgement on the appeals filed by the Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chris Azubogu, Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chris Uba and Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Obinna Uzor.

The appellate court upheld the ruling of the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, Awka and dismissed the appeals filed by APGA, PDP and LP candidates for lack of merit.
