In a recent statement, Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, expressed his concern about the ongoing insecurity in Nigeria, emphasizing that it should not be allowed to persist. He urged the government to develop more effective and innovative strategies to address the security challenges in the country.
Mr. Obi’s remarks were prompted by the abduction of passengers traveling to Abuja in mass transit buses in Kogi State. He lamented the unchecked spread of insecurity, banditry, and kidnapping, particularly in light of the reported kidnapping of travelers en route to Abuja.
He called for urgent attention to be given to the security of lives and property, emphasizing the need for the government and relevant agencies to prioritize this issue. Mr. Obi also appealed to the perpetrators of these criminal acts to have a change of heart and cease their activities. He expressed solidarity with the families of the kidnapped victims and emphasized the necessity of ensuring their safe release and enhancing security across the nation.
