Shaibu, who currently serves as the deputy governor of the state, boldly expressed his determination to continue his election preparations, even if it means facing impeachment by the state House of Assembly. His steadfast stance was conveyed during a press conference held in Abuja on Saturday.

The political turmoil intensified following conflicting declarations in the PDP governorship primary. While the returning officer appointed by the party announced Asue Ighodalo as the winner with 577 votes, a parallel primary held at the residence of the Deputy Governor saw Shaibu declared the victor by the returning officer, Bartholomew Moses, citing over 300 votes in his favour.

Shaibu’s resilience in the face of adversity underscores his commitment to pursuing his electoral aspirations despite the challenges and uncertainties surrounding the political landscape in Edo State.
