Ganduje mourns, extols virtues of Na’Abba

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has expressed his condolences on the death of the former speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’Abba.

In a statement by his press secretary, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje described Na’Abba as a thoroughbred politician and legislator who meant well for the country.

Ganduje recalled the pivotal role played by Na’Abba when he served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives to entrench the independence of the legislative arm of government even in the face of provocation by top operatives of the executive arm.

“His rich experiences and doggedness even when faced with the risk of impeachment were contributory to whatever achievements we recorded at the National Assembly today. He diligently served Nigeria. His wit, intellect, diligence and warm personality were legendary,” he said.

He prayed to Allah to grant him Aljana Firdaus and grant the entire members of the Na’Abba family, the people of Kano State and Nigeria at large the fortitude to bear his irreparable loss.

The former Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Ghali Na’Abba, died in Abuja at the age of 65 years.

Ahmed Umar Na’abba, his disclosed this to newsmen in Kano via telephone on Wednesday.

He said the former speaker died in the early hours of Wednesday at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Ahmed said: “He died around 3 a.m. in the wee hours of Wednesday at the National Hospital, Abuja.

“We are currently making arrangements for transportation of the corpse to Kano for burial,” Ahmed said.

Late Ghali Na’abba is survived by a wife and 10 children (eight females and two males).
