Former governor, Peter Obi, praises Anambra school for World Affairs Challenge victory

Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has commended Christ the King College in Onitsha, Anambra State, for their recent win at the prestigious World Affairs Challenge (WAC) 2024. He described it as a remarkable achievement that showcases the true greatness and immense potential of the Nigerian people.

Sharing his thoughts on Twitter, Obi expressed his excitement about the victory, emphasizing that this is the first time Nigeria has won Gold in the competition’s 32-year history. Christ the King College triumphed over teams from countries like the USA and Turkey to claim the coveted trophy.

Obi highlighted the students’ project, Wize Tales by Primus, which focuses on addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by empowering Nigerian youths to drive positive change in society. He congratulated the students for their hard work and dedication that led them to global success.

Reflecting on their earlier victories in the Africa Regional competition of the World Affairs Challenge, Obi encouraged the students to aim for international recognition, a goal they have now accomplished with their recent win.

Obi also pointed out his past support for Christ the King College during his tenure as the Governor of Anambra State, expressing pride in the school’s progress and achievements.

He concluded by emphasizing the importance of investing in education for national development, stating that education will remain a top priority in building the Nigeria of their aspirations.
