PesaCheck confirmed the politician is alive.

This TikTok video claiming that Uganda’s Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja perished in a road accident is FALSE.

The video also alleges that five other people died in the accident that occurred along Hoima Road.

The 36-second video includes multiple images of the prime minister alongside car wrecks, with three of the vehicles displaying visible Ugandan government number plates.

However, PesaCheck’s analysis reveals that none of these cars belong to the prime minister. A Google reverse image search on the photo of the first car, bearing the number plate UG 0346H, indicates its involvement in an accident in 2020 on the Kampala-Gulu highway with the then leader of the opposition in parliament, Betty Ochan, aboard.

PesaCheck determined that the image of the car with the number plate UG 0244 G in the video has been online since 2016 and was registered to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The vehicle with the number plate UG 0291K was indeed involved in an accident, but it is unrelated to the alleged incident. Results from a Google reverse image search @indicate that the vehicle struck pedestrians along the Kyankwanzi-Kiboga highway in 2018 and was owned by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

Reverse image searches on three wrecks in the video revealed them to be unrelated and old, as they were used either to depict or illustrate accidents that have occurred in the past. For instance, the image featured at minute 00:14 is of a car that was struck by a train in Kampala in July 2022.

PesaCheck further contacted Nabbanja, who confirmed that she was alive.

“I am on the road. I am from doing government work in Namanve. I just commissioned a hatchery in Namanve Industrial park,” Nabbanja said by telephone.

PesaCheck looked into a TikTok video claiming that Uganda’s Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja perished in a road accident and found it to be FALSE.
