Politicians used the helicopters at an Azimio coalition rally in Kenya in 2022.

This post on X (formerly Twitter) with an image purportedly of helicopters parked by parents attending a meeting at Ntare school in Western Uganda is FALSE.

“Parents parked at Ntare school in mbarara for a meeting for the suspended students….#which Uganda do you belong??” the user questions on X.

The picture depicts helicopters and cars parked in a spacious field.

The image surfaced on social media platforms weeks after Ntare School suspended all senior six students, citing their alleged involvement in vandalising the institution’s property.

However, these planes were not parked at Ntare School, as a Google reverse search conducted by PesaCheck shows. This image was used in an article published by Capital FM online on 1 July 2022.

According to the report, the helicopters were parked in Nyamira during an Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya coalition rally at Ekerenyo Stadium in Kenya.

The Azimio leader, Raila Odinga, competed against the now Kenyan President William Ruto in the 2022 presidential race. The image we are verifying was captured at one of the political rallies during this election period.

The media covered the event, and the photos were also posted by social media users, as seen here and here.

In this post by Nation Africa, the helicopters were captured from a different angle.

Comparably, we did a keyword search to check if there are reports of parents parking helicopters at Ntare school. We found no credible results.

PesaCheck looked into a post on X (formerly Twitter) claiming to show helicopters parked by parents attending a meeting at Ntare school in Western Uganda and found it to be FALSE.
