In celebration of International Human Solidarity Day, Obi took to his Twitter account to express his thoughts on the issue.

He emphasized, “Today, we join the global community in celebrating the International Human Solidarity Day which is dedicated to strengthening our global unity in diversity, and to help in fostering international cooperation on the eradication of hunger and diseases at the global level.”

Obi stressed the need for Nigerians to focus on unity and utilize their diverse cultural and ethnic identities to advance national progress, as opposed to being divided along ethnic and religious lines.

Furthermore, the former Anambra State Governor highlighted that Nigeria’s current state of division is a result of “bad politics and elite insensitivity,” making it challenging for people to collaborate for national development.

He remarked, “Unfortunately, we have, today as a nation, become more sharply divided than ever. Our dear nation is more polarised today than it has ever been, fueled by overwhelming tribal and religious sentiments among the people resulting in the unwillingness of Nigerians to cooperate and work together towards achieving national growth and development. This is clearly the result of bad politics and elite insensitivity.”

Obi also pointed out that the prevalent issues of hunger, poverty, and inequality are not confined to a specific ethnicity or religion but affect the entire nation. He urged political leaders and citizens to champion unity, social justice, and social equality in order to stand together in solidarity against the numerous challenges facing the country.
