The remains of late Chief (Sir) Uchenna Michael Ukeji, brother of business mogul,Chief Joseph Ukeji have been laid to rest. The funeral ceremony started with a solemn mass held at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Oraukwu.

Governor Soludo who delivered a condolence message on behalf of the government commended the Catholic Church for their role in advocating for the Anambra Burial Law, enacted in 2019 before his inauguration as Governor

“We must prioritize the well-being of the living,” Soludo emphasized. “The law aims to promote responsible spending on burials, alleviating pressure on poor and less privileged families during difficult times. My own father’s burial last month reflected this principle.”

Chief Ukeji’s legacy as a dedicated family man, a community leader, and a devout Catholic was celebrated by those who knew and loved him. The ceremony also served as a reminder of the importance of responsible burial practices and the need for proper implementation of the Anambra Burial Law.

Earlier, the ceremony included a heartfelt homily by Rev. Fr. Daniel Onuorah, who described Chief Ukeji as a kind and devoted member of the church, dedicated to its growth and prosperity. He urged attendees to follow Chief Ukeji’s example of compassion and service.

The event was attended by distinguished gatherings, including former Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi, Deputy Governor of Delta State Sir Monday John Onyeme, Secretary to the State Government Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Chief of Protocol Chinedu Nwoye Glamour, Sen.
