A Chieftain of the Labour Party, LP, and a top contender for the Edo state governorship seat, Ambassador Eghosa Curtis Ugbo, has called on the party to reduce the nomination and Expression of Interest Form from 30 million naira to 5 million naira.
According to Amb. Curtis Ugbo the Labour Party, LP, is meant to be a party of the masses not a party of the rich like the PDP and the APC.
Ugbo appealed to the National Working Committee of the party to review and reduced drastically the amount and peg it to five million naira to enable real members of the Labour Party to participate in the party primary.
“Reducing the cost of form for aspirants in the party to five million will encourage working class members of the party to purchase the nomination form.”
He said, 30million is outrageous for real members of the party to pay as most of the party members don’t have Job.
“Members of the party are anxious to serve the people and not to come and loot as other party members are fond of.”
Comrade Elder Curtis Eghosa Ugbo called out the National Chairman of the LP and the Chairman of the Edo chapter of the party to urgently reconsider and review the said amount to 5 million so that the real people that own the party can participate in the party primary and the governorship election.
According to Comrade Ugbo, “Edo State 2024 Nomination/Expression of Interest Form for N30 million is not for the interest of members of Labour Party, LP, is supposed to be Masses Party.”
According to him, “I am one of the contender in the 2024 governorship Election and ready to serve the people and not to come and loot.”
” I, comrade Eghosa Curtis Ugbo will never pay anything more than five million to buy form. I want to come and serve my people and not to go and loot the Treasury.”
“The purported N30 million forms for the Governorship Aspirants of the Labour Party is not masses friendly.”
Ugbo further added that, “I will not allow fraud, illegality and corruption of few individuals to continue in our Party? I am bringing myself to serve the masses of the people and not to make money please, I am already a blessed man by God as a millionaire. So take it or leave it, I will never support anything that is not true and wrong, no matter what, I am not begging to be a Governor but coming to teach them how to be a Governor of a State”. He concluded.

What happened to the bank account of the party? if we must get things right in our country, we all must begin to act rightly and he who comes to equity must come with clean hands.*
