The key and operative word “I” is dominant and unsustainable because the appropriate key and operative word is “we/us” in a democracy. “We the people” is essential because of its inclusivity. It embraces even dissent voices or opinions. The notion “I” is self seeking and self serving often not aligned to common values for common good. The irony is that the enablers are ever ready to continue to stroke, massage and caress “the ego” to the detriment of the common good of actually serving the people following sheepishly. Regarding the assembly members in question ask them to provide evidence of the expressed consents of their constituents as per their decisions to abdicate their identity and duties of their original political party to assume the identity of another political party. In essence, it’s more about individual interests than the interests of the people the constituents. Ask them, where are the food banks centres they have established to meet the needs of their constituents in the face of the current economic hardship? The spirit of “we the people” enables on to ensure that enforcement of court order is realised regarding conceded oil wells and revenues due Rivers State by so doing ensuring that the initiated efforts are seen to their conclusion in best interests of the state. There is the need elevated the discourse in a way manner that peace remains integral to all endeavours to move the state forward by giving the current administration the enabling environment to carry out its obligations to the people. All peoples be them in the creeks or hinterland deserve to be heard and given equal opportunities to thrive and flourish. The vision “we” is more appropriate in the circumstances.
