CLO to honour Obi, Muoghalu, Umeh, Obiora,Umeagbalasi to mark 75th UDHR 2023.

THE Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Anambra State branch will on Sunday, December 10, 2023 bestow meritorious services award to five prominent citizens, who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour and rendered selfless services to humanity.

They were nominated based on meritorious services, impeccable character and integrity, patriotism, uprightness and selflessness.

In a statement, the CLO noteworthy that their believe in the wise assertion of John Holmes “that the only good motive in life is the motive of doing good for her country and citizens and there is no blessings in having, getting and having but only in giving and sharing made unique and rare personalities.

It recalled that the United Nations has set aside 10th December every year to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights instituted on 10th December 1948 by the United Nations General Assembly.

The event will be under the distinguished chairmanship of Most Rev Bishop Moses Ezedebego, Chairman Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Anambra State Branch.

Award wining and outstanding DPO Central Police Division Onitsha CSP Rabiu Garuba will deliver UDHR @75th lecture with the theme “The Roles of Civil Society Organizations in Nation Building”.

Addressing pre UDHR @75TH world press conference by the State Chairman Vincent Ezekwueme flanked by the Secretary Chidi Mbah, the Organizing Committee Chairman Damian Oguike and Nnamdi Nwafor Secretary respectively, stated that the United Nations in its unique wisdom instituted UDHR in 1948 for the promotion and protection of Human Rights and celebrating the efforts and achievements of the UDHR globally.

The Anambra State governor, Professor Charles Soludo and former governor, Peter Obi are Chief Guests of honour.

Among the other prominent Nigerians expected at the event include Senator Dr Victor Umeh, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Publisher Realnews Magazine, Maureen Chigbo, Senator Tony Nwoye, Bishop Owen Nwokolo,  Val Ozigbo, Moses Aniemenam, Jude Umennajiego, Fred Ezenwa, Chibueze Oforbike, T.C.Aguata, Ada Ikedunu, human rights activist and National President Women Arise for Change Initiative Joe Odumakin among others.

The chairman of organizing committee Damian Oguike assured that necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a hit free, successful and memorable event.

The event will take place at the Basilica of St Andrew Hall Odoakpu Onitsha.

Other features is the presentation of 75th Anniversary Of Universal Declaration of Human Rights state of the nation address by the state chairman Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme AMBP-UN.

The hallmark of the event will be bestowing “DISTINGUISHED Beacon of Democracy” on Peter Obi, “Human Rights Personality of the Year” on Justice Veronica Ngozi Umeh rtd. Human Rights Ambassadors on George Muoghalu and Bishop E.C.Obiora, while “Human Rights Defender” will be bestow on human rights activist, criminologist and social crusader, Nze Emeka Umeagbalasi.
