CIVIL Liberties Organization, CLO, Anambra State Branch has applauded Governor Charles Soludo, Soludo’s family for according their father befitting burial devoid of opulence, Asoebi, ostentatious display of wealth and flamboyance despite they have the wherewithal.
The applaud was contained in a press statement entitled: “Let us live and lead by example” by Vincent Ezekwueme, AMBP-UN chairman and Chidi Mbah, secretary, of CLO.
According to the statement, CLO is humbled and overwhelmed by the humility, prudence and patriotic disposition of the first family, which is worthy of commendation and emulation. “They have indeed set a standard for others to emulate for adherence to Anambra State burial law.
“It is a cheering news and source of inspiration and hope that the governor and family has displayed unprecedented leadership by example.
“It will be recall that CLO had on many forum advocated drastic reductions in burial expenditures in the state.”
In Anambra State and entire Southeast the bereaved will not only be crying for the lost one but most importantly the huge amount to be spend on burial activities, it stated.
Anambrarians and southeast should emulates Soludo family in organizing burial rites for their departed ones.
Part of the statement reads: “CLO is in tandem with wise postulation of His Excellency, Peter Obi that the living need charity more than the dead ones.
“We appeal to Anambrarians and southeast to also celebrates and take proper care and best treatment for our elders,relatives and loved ones while they are still alive and discard opulence, ostentatious display of wealth during burials as such money can be saved and use to take proper care of the living which will be more beneficial and fruitful.
“CLO pray for best positive impact and moral lesson upon citizens from burial of Late Pa Simeon Nwankwo Soludo.
“The governor has indeed matched his words with good work.”
