A faction of the Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, on Tuesday passed a vote of confidence on Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Oba Oladipupo Olaitan, as the leader and deputy leader of the group respectively.
The group also appointed Alade Rotimi-John, as deputy secretary general and Prince Justice Faloye, as deputy publicity secretary of the organization.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of its meeting held at the residence of Pa Adebanjo at Isanya-Ogbo, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, on Tuesday.
Daily Trust reports that last week in Akure, Ondo State, a faction of Afenifere sacked Adebanjo as acting leader of the group.

Afenifere, which appointed Adebanjo as the acting leader of the group in 2022, said the position had been abrogated, adding that another group named as Afenifere Elders Caucus has been formed.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of the monthly meeting of the group held at the residence of Pa Reuben Fasoranti on Wednesday, last week.
The communique was read by the Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Jare Ajayi.
Barely a week after the Akure resolution, Adebanjo’s faction met at his residence in Ogun State, and passed a vote of confidence on his leadership.
Some of the dignitaries in attendance were, Senator Femi Okurounmu, Senator Adegbenga Kaka, Chief Sola Ebiseni, Dele Farounbi, Mogaji Gboyega Adejumo and Alade Rotimi-John, among others.
The communique, which was signed by Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Mogaji Gboyega Adejumo, the national leader and national publicity secretary, respectfully, the faction passed a vote of confidence Adebanjo and Olaitan, as Leader and Deputy Leader of Afenifere respectively.
The group also condemned what it described as incursion by terrorists into Yorubaland, and the gruesome murder of two traditional rulers in Ekiti, calling on Nigerians on the need for self-defense.
