A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Daniel Bwala, said without a coalition of opposition parties, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will spend eight years in office.

Bwala said opposition political parties will have to come to form a strong coalition that will wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

He stated this during an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Tuesday, January 2.

“Without a coalition of political parties, Tinubu is going to spend the next eight years. That one is for sure.”

Bwala added that:

“The truth of the matter is that there will be a coalition of political parties that will be very strong. This is a fact that I know. The coalition that is coming will swallow some of the elements that are creating the problems in the various political parties.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Bwala said the Labour Party’s (LP) survival depends on its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

He said the church cannot be Obi’s structure because the church is not the structure of any political party.

Legit.ng also reported that Bwala said the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar will still contest for the presidential seat in 2027.

Legit.ng reports that Atiku, 77, ran unsuccessfully for President of Nigeria six times, in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023.

The former spokesperson of the defunct Atiku’s presidential campaign organisation made this known during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday night, January 2.

Peter Obi speaks on Labour Party taking over from PDP

Obi positioned the Labour Party as the main opposition party in Nigeria, a role the PDP has occupied since the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.

In his New Year message, the former governor of Anambra state said his Labour Party will continue to adjust to the new role as the main opposition party in Nigeria.
