This photo on Facebook, supposedly of Nigerian politician Peter Obi with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, is ALTERED.
The image depicts Obi and Tinubu in a conversation. On the wall in the background are framed photos of President Tinubu and the Nigerian coat of arms.
According to the text accompanying the photo, Obi urged Seyi to work with the youth, including his son Oseloka Obi.
But is the photo authentic?
Google reverse image search results showed that the original photo is of Seyi Tinubu with Umar Lawal, a Nigerian activist.
Nigeria Star News published the photo on 3 May 2023. The picture was also published here.
Lawal shared the original photo for the first time on his Facebook page on 19 January 2023.
PesaCheck compared the original and the altered image and established that the photo frames on the wall are doctored.
The authentic photo has the framed image of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, not Tinubu.
A Google search for the purported meeting led us to debunks by The Source Magazine and The News Guru, which also found that the image was doctored.
