Akpabio, Soludo, Peter Obi, Others Attend Senator Okonkwo’s Burial

Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, were among the dignitaries at the burial of the late distinguished Senator Clement Annie Okonkwo.

Akelicious understands that the Vigil Mass occurred on Wednesday, August 30, while the burial ceremony took place on Thursday, August 31, in Ojoto, Anambra State.

Also at the event were Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, distinguished senators, political leaders, ambassadors, captains of industries, and distinguished Nigerians.

In a statement released via his X handle, Obi said he and his wife attended the burial ceremony to pay their last respects to a great patriot and distinguished legislator.

The former Anambra governor said Okonkwo lived a simple life of humility, love, and peace, adding that he was a bridge builder who desired peace, peaceful coexistence, and progress in society.

According to Obi, the late lawmaker contributed immensely to building society by helping many people to succeed, especially the less privileged, stating he was deeply patriotic, both as a businessman, and a political leader.

He wrote: “Yesterday, my dear wife, Margaret, and I joined many other respected Nigerians like the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Charles Soludo, Governor Alex Otti, distinguished senators, political leaders, ambassadors, captains of industries, and Nigerians from all walks of life, at the burial of the late distinguished Senator Annie Okonkwo, in Ojoto, Anambra State, having also participated in his Vigil Mass the previous day.

“We were there to pay our last respects to a great patriot and distinguished legislator. Sen. Annie Okonkwo lived a simple life of humility, love, and peace. He was a bridge builder who desired peace, peaceful coexistence, and progress in society. He contributed immensely to building society by helping many people to succeed, especially the less privileged.

“He was deeply patriotic, both as a businessman, and a political leader. Senator Okonkwo’s highly entrepreneurial spirit and political sagacity will be greatly missed in the country today, especially as we embark on the mission of moving the economy from consumption to production.
