Aisha Yesufu, a prominent rights activist, has affirmed her commitment to supporting the presidential ambition of Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi.
Yesufu clarified that her support for Obi is based on his potential to lead Nigeria, emphasizing that political allegiance should be rooted in the ability to provide good governance rather than shared religion, tribe, or gender.
In a statement on X, Yesufu stated, “‘Your own’ in politics is not one you share the same religion, tribe, or gender with. ‘Your own’ is one who can give you good governance.”
Expressing her stance on Obi, she continued, “I will NEVER support him to be Imam of a mosque, but as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he has my 100% support even if I end up being his only supporter.”
Yesufu declared her unwavering commitment, asserting that she would support Obi a thousand times if he chose to run repeatedly. She highlighted her belief that Obi is willing to undertake the necessary efforts to uplift Nigeria from challenges it currently faces.
“My focus is on my effort. I have no business quitting because the win was stolen. I am focused on how to ensure that the win is not stolen next time. Giving up is never an option. We die here,” Yesufu concluded.
