After a much controversial weekend in Adamawa State, northern Nigeria, due to the illegal declaration of supplementary election results, the independent national electoral commission finally announced Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the people’s Democratic party as winner of the march 18 governorship election.

Fintiri who is the incumbent governor in the state polled 430,861 votes to defeat his closest opponent, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Senator Aishatu Dahiru-Ahmed Binani, who got 398,738.

Binani had earlier sought an injunction from the court to stop INEC from proceeding with the collation and announcement of the result but failed to get it.
