Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has taken to social media to drag Reno Omikri, a former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan for literally arm-twisting Peter Obi to make a donation for ailing actor John Okafor aka Mr Ibu.

Recall that the veteran thespian in a video posted on his Instagram page on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, explained that he has been ill for weeks and he is not responding to treatment.

Mr Ibu said that the medical doctors have said that if they exhaust the options they have, they might resort to cutting off his leg if he is unable to receive proper treatment.

The actor said; “While I am hoping for prayers and assistance, as I speak to you I am still lying down in the hospital. The medical director of this hospital said that in case his new idea does not work, the next idea is to cut off my leg.

While reacting to the appeal made by the veteran actor, Reno Omokri challenged Peter Obi to cover the comic actor’s medical expenses, claiming that Mr Ibu had endorsed and campaigned for him as his preferred candidate during the 2023 general elections.

However, Kanayo O. Kanayo has criticised the comments made by Reno Omokri and also called out controversial actor Uche Maduagwu for talking about shame on top actor’s.

‘’As actors, our heart goes out to our dear colleague, Mr Ibu. His family has done their best since it was reported last year. And now they have come out to say we have done our best, we need public support.

‘‘Now, I condemn in strict terms Reno Omokri, who is coming to call Peter Obi’s name and so on. It is not a friendly thing. It’s wicked. And to Uche Maduagwu, who talked about shame on top actors. Shame on you too because you don’t have any value and level to call out our names.

‘‘It’s an individual thing to support a colleague. It becomes a collective thing as Actors Guild of Nigeria. Don’t forget some people learn to give personally, privately. Even those who have given can also be appreciated on a scale of what they have given to John Okafor,” he said.
