The faction alleges that Obi used these funds to assist Julius Abure, a troubled party Chairman, and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
This accusation was made in a statement by the spokesperson of the Apapa faction, Abayomi Arabambi.
The statement stated, “Our previous stance has now been verified. Peter Obi simply aimed to defraud our party of the donations made towards the 2023 general election, which amounted to a staggering sum of $15 million and N12 billion. Obi deliberately diverted the funds to alleviate the poverty-stricken background of Abure and extend support to the irresponsible ethnic irredentist followers of Julius Abure’s IPOB.”
Arabambi further claimed, “Peter Obi deceitfully pocketed all funds that were rightfully due to our agents across the nation, resulting in their refusal to represent the party at any polling stations.”
It is worth noting that the Apapa faction has been in an ongoing leadership battle with the Abure faction since the party’s defeat in the presidential election.
