Accept Tinubu’s olive branch in Nigeria’s interest, Anyanwu tells Atiku, Obi

Two-term former national ex-officio of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in the country, Chief Nduka Anyanwu, on Friday, bared his mind on the apex court’s judgement which revalidated the victory of President Bola Tinubu at the concluded Nigeria 2023 presidential election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

On Thursday, the Supreme Court of Nigeria had quashed petitions filed before it by presidential candidates of the Labour Party(LP) Peter Obi, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Obi and Atiku in separate suits had approached the apex court to appeal the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal that had earlier upheld Tinubu’s victory at the poll.

Recall that Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress standard-bearer,
Bola Tinubu emerged as President-elect, of Nigeria, after polling a total of 8,794,726 votes to beat Mr Atiku Abubakar, the presidential flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored a total number of 6,984,520 votes cast to come second; while the candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, polled a total of 6, 101,533 votes casts to take the third place.

Anyanwu, in a statement on Friday, congratulated President Tinubu on the reaffirmation of people’s mandate entrusted to him in the concluded February 25 presidential poll held in all states in the federation by the nation’s electoral umpire.

He called on messers Atiku and Obi to accept the olive branch extended to them by the new Nigerian leader in the interest of peace of the country.

Anyanwu also urged the two Nigerian leaders to jettison political bickering and work together with President Tinubu in raising the bar of governance in Nigeria through the ongoing implementation of visionary and development-oriented policies tilted in improving people’s livelihoods.

The founding APC member also used the medium to remind critical political stakeholders and all citizens of the country that elections had come and gone, as every citizens of the country are expected to render their maximum support to elected government office-holders to enable them deliver on their electoral promises during the campaigns held across all states in Nigeria federation.

He said: “Now all the litigations against the recent outcomes of the conducted Nigeria 2023 presidential elections have been decided by the supreme court of Nigeria in favour of the APC, the President should not be distracted, rather, we should collectively rally rounded him. And we should continue in giving the President supports to be able to address the challenges facing the nation”.

Anyanwu further stressed that now that the lingered issues which emanated over recent outcomes of the last presidential elections have been resolved, every citizens irrespective of ethnic, political and religious leanings should work towards the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.

“Let us seize this moment to unite as a nation and work towards a brighter future under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”,the southeast party chieftain asserted.

The immediate-past Board Council Chairman of Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the strides recorded so far in the development of the economy and critical infrastructures in many parts of the country.

He reassured of the continued efforts and total committment of President Tinubu’s government and the governing All Progressives Congress in bequeathing an economically and infrastructuraly stable country; while further calling on ndigbo to key into national politics by rally-rounding APC which remains the sure route for the igbo nation to produce a President for Nigeria.
