Addressing the press at his hometown, Amichi in  Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State,Okeke decried that 2023 was the year democracy was murdered.

According to him,INEC and judiciary had  disappointed Nigerians by coming up with verdict that was contrary to the people’s opinion.

Chief Okeke congratulated those who have adjudged to have won the election and also commemorated  those who have won but not adjudged both presidential, governorship and other levels.

He assured the people that  justice would be done to democracy that had been battered.

Okeke revealed that May 29th general election in terms and purposes was believed to had won by the candidate of Labour,Mr Peter Obi but those whom the Constitution gave the power to decide, decided otherwise.

“Both Igbos, Hausas and Yorubas voted Labour candidate, Mr Peter Obi and expected that he would be given the mantle of governance but the Constitution was battered by INEC and Judiciary to give contrary verdict” he added

He advised Igbos and lovers of Igbos all over the world to mark 29th May every year as a day to remember when  democracy was murdered.

” It should be a remembrance day for the Igbos all over the world” he added

Okeke said that President Bola Tinubu said in his address that he would continue from where his predecessor stopped.

“Former government favoured  Fulanis and this present one appears to favour Yorubas” he said

He pointed  excluding one tribe from governance would be a dangerous trend which must be revised.

“Today one major ethnic group in the country had been excluded in governance. It must be noted that the more you exclude Igbos from governance, the more you support agitation of Biafra” Okeke said

He lamented over Nnamdi Kanu’s case which he said that Nnamdi should not had  been detained.

Okeke revealed that Nnamdi was not carrying any arm that tagged him a terrorist, according to him it was only agitation.

“People should have right to agitate for any Injustice done to them” he said

“I call the attention of the president since the judiciary had put a final full stop to his release to use the power given to him by the Constitution to get him released because if he dies in the prison for lack of treatment, it will be catastrophic” he said

Okeke commended the efforts of Anambra State government so far in ensuring peace and security in the state.

“I must say there’s relative peace in Southeast this period ” he  added

“I must commend the efforts of Southeast governors to contend the insecurity situation in the zone” he said

He disclosed that security would be stronger if the Constitution would be amended to give each governor the right  of  true Chief Security of his State by giving them right  to have state Police.

Okeke called on governors of Southeast to cooperate and work together to secure their zones.

“It better to be united because unity is strength” he said

He touched the area of subsidy removal, according him it was the right act but was wrongly timed.

“What did you put in place before removing subsidy” he asked
