I wonder how many other people like me who are ones very pro-Israel have soured on the entire thing. This last month has almost made me do a complete 180. I once thought of them as a sort of beacon for democracy and modern Western civilization in the Middle East. I don’t think of that anymore when I think about Israel. Not after they have been bombing hospitals and churches and refugee camps and essentially going balls to the wall against a bunch of innocent civilians and just acting like a despotic, uncaring war criminal. I am so very deeply ashamed that any tax dollar of mine has gone toward funding this regime. I am frankly horrified at their actions.

How Israel is responding to the gaza situation can be broken down into three terms.
Short term horrible response: Bombing gaza for weeks before sending in the ground forces is a stupid decision to make because you are killing more civilians than terrorists by default.
Medium term appropriate response: Sending in the ground forces to take out Hamas is an appropriate response to your citizens being killed.
Long term horrible response: Not planning on occupying the gaza strip is a bad decision because what is stopping from another terrorist organization replacing hamas in the future thus rendering the Israeli soldiers sacrifice as meaningless or even preventing more death on both sides in the future.
Overall: When you are attacked first you have to respond but it is mandatory that you only focus on the group or organization that killed your people and doing your best to minimize civilian deaths in the process while also occupying the territory so that future terror cells can not take over.
