On Thursday, the Ondo State House of Assembly screened and confirmed Olayide Adelami as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.
The development came 24 hours after the governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, picked Adelami as the deputy governor-nominee and sent his name to the Assembly for screening and approval.
The House had earlier conducted a screening exercise for the nominee at the Assembly complex before the plenary.
In his response, Adelami appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for nominating him, promising not to betray the confidence reposed in him.

How Significant is the Threat Posed by the “Steve” Mosquito?

Health experts have raised the alarm that a new species of mosquito is driving up malaria infections in Africa, fueling a growing public health concern.
According to the World Health Organisation, the Anopheles stephensi mosquito, shortened by some entomologists to “Steve,” has so far been detected in seven African countries.
The mosquito, which originated in South Asia, was first detected in Djibouti in 2012.
Since then, malaria rates in the country have grown exponentially.
The new species has since spread to Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Ghana.
