For over a decade, Nigeria has grappled with persistent security challenges that have left citizens yearning for lasting solutions. Each new government raises hopes of addressing these issues, only to witness what appears to be a sense of helplessness in the face of escalating problems. The country has witnessed a range of security issues, including ethnic cleansings in Plateau State, killings in Kaduna, abductions of Chibok and Birnin Yauri girls, the resurgence of kidnappings in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the abduction of the Al-Kardriyar sisters, and recently, the abduction of students, tutors, and a driver in Ekiti, along with the tragic killing of two monarchs.

Questions are being raised about the effectiveness of security measures and law enforcement strategies in preventing and responding to kidnapping incidents, especially in Ekiti State. The impact of insecurity has been profound, instilling fear and a sense of helplessness among citizens, hindering their ability to carry out daily activities without concerns for their safety. Many citizens believe that there is an urgent need for decisive, prompt, and coordinated action to comprehensively address the security challenges and protect communities. The ongoing debate revolves around the government’s response and the necessity for a strategy that ensures the safety and well-being of the populace. 🇳🇬
