My take on this airport ( btw am from Ebonyi): 1) The exterior design could be better. It looks basic. 2) The interior is good with the exception of the multi color designs. Plain cream or grey would have done wonders. 3) My concern is sustainability and traffic to the airport especially international flights. (Nigerian politics of economic blockade of the East is still alive).
In conclusion, Umahi did well infrastructural. You cannot take that away from him. He lacked in other areas like human development. But govt is a continuum. The next governor can do that.

These elephant projects are beautiful but can we start from basics. Like pipe borne water not bore holes, a working sanitation system, standard for road construction- road borders should be covered with grass,shrubs and trees, or Cement and gravel to avoid erosion, underground water drainge system- gutters are eyes sores,breeds mosquitoes and malaria ; electricity. Then we will really enjoy these elephant proiects. It doesn't make sense building a mansion inside a refuse dump!!! Great job any. We just need a good foundation, FIRST!!!
Once upon a time Peter Obi was a governor of a state but he decided to save the state's money instead of spending the money on lasting infrastructure according to him. In Ebonyi state however comes another man as governor that beliefs in building a legacy by using the state's money judiciously to build lasting infrastructure that will benefit his people for generations to come. I doff my hat to Engineer Umahi and in him I have found our future president as Nigerians. Congratulations to Nigerians and not only Ebonyi people…👏👏👏
You sped too fast while driving to the airport, you didn't even slow down when you got to the entrance. That is reprehensible, especially for someone who purportedly was informing the public and supposedly is enlightened. If you could drive that recklessly while sober (assuming you were), one needs not imagine how ọchọ passengers drive, which often results in fatal accidents, including falling down oil tankers, etc. I lost interest in the airport upon seeing Umahi's image dressed in Northern regalia — that speaks volumes about the Igbo to an international first time traveler to Nigeria. Hopefully there would be enough passengers, goods, services, and maintenance culture to justify this airport's construction costs.
I was looking forward to your blog regarding the completion of this project. I appreciate your dedicated passion for the development of the south east.
Dave Umahi should name this airport after Francis Akanu Ibiam, to immortalised his name as one of the foremost sons of Ebonyi state. Cos I see in Dave Umahi naming the airport after himself.
Apart from the new built lounge in Lagos International, there is no better airport in Nigeria than this. Hopefully, we can attract some flights to come to Ebonyi
What !! 36 billion to bult this beautiful airport that will stand the test of time ? I cant believe it. Please Njenje ask Hope Uzodinma why did owerri to Orlu road cost 56 billion to built ? Please note Imo state budget for 2023 is 474 billion naira, but nothing to show for it.
