Anambra Governor Soludo Bids Farewell to Father, Advocates for Modest Burials
Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, recently paid his final respects to his father, Pa Simeon Soludo, in a funeral that exemplified both personal loss and public responsibility.
The ceremony, held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Umueze-Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, was not only a moment of mourning but also an occasion for the governor to reinforce the importance of modesty in burial practices, as per Anambra’s state laws.
Amidst the grief, Soludo fondly remembered his father as a devout Catholic who instilled in his family the values of faith and resilience post-civil war.
In his homage, the governor recalled his father’s commitment to teaching catechism and providing spiritual guidance.
His adherence to the state’s burial laws was evident as he consciously avoided excessive expenditures, setting a precedent for others in the state by not printing posters or distributing mourning clothes.
