Ile-Ife (Osun) – The Ife Model Lions Club, an NGO under the leadership of Prof. Rasak Adebayo, has organised a free medical test for the public to complement the Federal Government’s efforts at improving the health status of Nigerians.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the free medical test held in front of the Mini Auditorium(Garden Arena), Phase 3, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife.
The medical and nursing team of the Faculty of Medicine of the institution, were on ground to attend to people with a view to finding solutions to their medical conditions.
According to Adebayo, the mission of the club is to complement the government’s efforts in alleviating the suffering of the masses.
Mrs Temilola Soyemi, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries of the free medical test, lauded the association for the good gesture.
Soyemi urged other club members, individuals, philanthropists and other good hearted Nigerians to emulate the club in assisting the less privileged.
The District Governor of Lions Club International, Ayobola Samuel and other principal officers of the club, who were in Ile ife, paid a courtesy call on the CMD, OAUTHC, Prof. Victor Adetiloye.
Adetiloye, who lauded the Ife Model Lions Club for its efforts in assisting the needy, explained that the club’s activities were being felt in the hospital.
Adebayo, who is the club’s president in Ile-Ife, reiterated his commitment to betterment of the people in the society.
Some materials for the use of patients were donated to the OAUTHC Ophthalmology Department for the benefit of the people.
Earlier, the District Governor of Lions Club International, had decorated the CMD Prof. Victor Adetiloye as an honorary member of the club.
He announced that some drugs were also available for those who might need them after the screening.
