The presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, Mrs Obiageli Ezekwesili, has promised to make education Nigeria’s “new oil well and gold mine” if elected in the forthcoming elections.
She said her education programme would fast-track the quest for an all-round development of the country and open doors for various segments of the nation to develop.
A statement by her campaign organisation on Sunday said Ezekwesili made the pledge on Friday during her visit to the Hakimi of Ushafa, in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT, Mohammad Baba
She said the government of ACPN under her would equally give priority to agriculture, security, youths and women empowerment to alleviate poverty in the country.
Ezekwesili said, “I am running so that women, children and young people will prosper and achieve their goals. We will liberate Nigeria, rescue the youths and the less privileged from suffering and set the country on the path of prosperity.
“Education will become our new oil wells and gold mines through adequate policies.”
She advised supporters of the party to form a united front to enable the party attain victory during the elections.
In his response, Baba said Nigeria needed somebody like Ezekwesili to rescue the country from its numerous challenges.
He noted that women were good managers and had solutions to the problems confronting the country.
